Shadi Aur Main, Kabhi Nahi!

Ironic isn’t it? Couple of days back I received an email from let’s say a well established matrimonial website. Oh! Screw yaar, it was from Shaadi.Com. A lady from their marketing department found my blog to be appropriately suited for their website’s promotional snippets and thereby wanted to strike a mutually benefitted business deal with moi.

Now if you are as successful as I am in the desi-blogdom (yes modesty seems to be the highest virtue these days) then private advertising offers are a regular feature. Not much moolah but moolah nonetheless.

Anyway what got me by the gigglee nerve was that in the mail the very nice lady mentioned something on the lines of having studied my blog (meaning posts) extensively and thus coming to the conclusion that it was an excellent advertising medium. Excellent advertising medium my ever so sexy (so what if flat) arse.

I mean seriously…if one has read this blog as efficiently as claimed then even a noodle soup doodee would realize that my thoughts are anything but marriage friendly, especially arranged marriage. And if not off the mark, matrimonial sites could be classified as - one of 21st century’s popular arranged marriage routes.

So much so for extensive research. Maybe for once they should attempt doing the same with their eyes open. On second thoughts though; maybe just maybe they are dabbling with twisted psychology here. You know like telling it to a 6 year old, don’t do this because it’s bad for you but in actuality you do want the kid to take the bait.

Either ways, my reply to the kind lady’s e-mail was positive. Very positive. Why? Because in us Punjabis there is a popular saying “Aati huai Lamxi ko kabhi na nahi kehete”

Lol on that Punjabi saying :D

Btw, are we going to see “Alliance invited for 2X years old …” kinda posts? maybe not very random people but how about opening such posts for fellow bloggers? They’ll all be very happy you see :P
We can have a line in the PS on the marriage ad - “should be a blogger who has commented on to each its own before” :P

And why should you? Say ‘No’ to Lakshmi, that is. After all, it’s the researcher’s headache to ascertain whether your site is good for them. No?

SJ,
I have a shaadi.com banner on by blog for close to 6months and hope to rake it moolah there.
Anyways, I get a monthly email from them not to lose hope, my revenue is still at zero and keep the banner active.

Reverse psychology. Readers horrified by the gruesome images that you paint of arranged marriages might look at the matrimonial site as a refuge from the war zone out there. You should consider adding a before and after photo series.

I think it had something to do with the recent “Live-In” relationship post!

Sites providing Live-In matching services will be a bigger hit than Shaadi.com!

So you might have Ads on your blog for both services - it’s gets easier for people to choose! :)

That fool wants to pay you. Who cares if she is advertising ramdev dude or victorias secrets . So the moral of the story is take the cash. Enjoy your life. Let shaadi.com worry ;)

LOL…I agree the content of this site is not at shaadi-friendly but neverthless since your blog is so popular and since your blog has got so much of fan following, so I’m sure that Shaadi will be able to reach lots of net-savy consumers through your blog :-) and yeah I agree “aati hui lakshmi ko na nahi karna chahiye.
