For someone who thrives on socializing, being alone is an experience and what better city to be in for an experience such as this than New York. During my last trip I barely got much time to explore the nooks and corners of this magnificent city. Above all the frame of mind was exactly the opposite; then a tourist on a timer, today a person with no agenda and time at disposal.
Barely 10 days and I find myself falling in love. And hopefully this time round for the right reasons.
- My new fetish is possessing sunglasses. Mind you, branded ones only. And in NYC you can wear your sunnies anywhere, anytime. Really. Even in the subway at night.
- Sound sleep at the park. And I didn’t get molested, mugged or stabbed.
- Mind boggling fashion taste. You will find the Madonnas, the pre-Madonnas and the post Madonnas – all, under one roof.
- Nothing beats the New York Autumn. Just the right mix of sunshine and chilly winds.
- A Thousand Splendid Suns. Strawberry frosted Dunkin Donuts. Central Park. Nothing beats this combination.
- Pooches pooches everywhere. Big guys with Chihuahuas, pretty ladies with Alaskan Huskies. New Yorkers love their doggies and how.
- New York’s hub-dub, Manhattan. Even though defined as concrete jungle, walking through busy Manhattan streets has its own unique charm. One feels almost insignificant – “this city heals everything” my best friend proudly claims.
- Movies movies and more movies. 10 days 7 movies, yes people I am aiming for world record here. And the best part is you don’t need company.
- Music. Today I almost spent an hour at H & Ms just grooving on their brilliant playlist. Shopped zilch.
And last but certainly not the least….
- My fantastic hosts who have been burdened with the responsibility of babysitting me. And need I say, they are doing a fantastic job after all who in their right minds would allow you to have Vodka + Diet Coke for breakfast.
Loneliness has never been this blissful.

nothing like solitude – too often we value the company of the others before our own

{Hug} Perhaps you don’t need it but I do. You don’t know just what it is to finally hear you sound a little happy again.
