Introducing InkFruit.Com
There’s something refreshing about a name like Inkfruit, and it’s even more refreshing when it turns out to be a site selling T-shirts. So these guys approached me asking me to review their site, and they’d give me a Tee in return. Now the request was seriously cute, and just because it was so refreshingly naïve and cute, I said OK.
So here I am, with Inkfruit open in another tab, and I’m thinking, ‘That’s called ideating’.
Don’t know how far something this specific will run, and these guys might need to come up with something MORE, but, for the time being, this is a great plan, and I hope it works. ‘Cause, you know, it’s just so cute and refreshing.
Some of the Tee designs are pretty cute and whacky. And these designs are submissions of people – you can do so too. Not just that, you can also vote and rate your favourite designs, and leave back comments. So it’s all nice and interactive.
You have to register yourself in this community of T-shirt lovers (whose tagline is: A Great T-Shirt Can Change The World), provide a bit of personal information (that I was a bit uncomfortable providing, but you can faff a bit no), and then log on. Chat up with others, surf for nice designs and submit your own. These guys offer a full refund of money if you are not happy with the stuff you’ve bought online, but you can’t return a piece if you’ve tried it, so that’s a bit of a bummer. Also, some of the pieces on display are already sold. Atleast the one I liked (Mansi’s Graphical Buildings) was all sold out. That’s something these guys need to be really quick to update – carelessness is the last thing we’re expecting from smart idea-sites. On the flipside though, they’re selling out fast, which definitely means they’re managing to do pretty well for themselves.
Now, all that cuteness doesn’t mean they’re not smart cookies haan. So, the shipping charges are extra: Rs 20 extra (for Mumbai), Rs 30 (for Delhi). If it’s cash on delivery, and not online payment, then that’s another Rs 30. Online payment is fairly detailed and they accept debit/credit/Internet bank account payments. But the Tees themselves are pretty affordable.
Now if you’re submitting designs then I’d suggest you take a look at the Terms and Conditions first – it’s not fine print, and it’s not jargon. Basically, it lays down how much money you get if your design’s accepted (Rs 1,500 + Rs 500 rewards points redeemable on the site) and where you can or can not use the design once it’s selected by the Inkfruit.com people.
We all have a right to express our views. In many instances; it will be against ours and in some; with us. To hear them out is 'decency' but to let them get to you is 'weakness'.

Threadless who started this user-submitted community-voted limited-print online T-Shirt print offer much better compensation for accepted designs
$2,000 in cash + $500 Threadless Gift Certificate + $500 every time a new batch is re-printed.
So its probably better to submit there, unless the design is for a very desi taste.

Sakshi, I hope you had thought it out well that you want to tread into the realm of paid-reviews (in cash or kind). It is kind of one-way street. First of all, we read paid reviews and voluntary reviews differently. Secondly, it gets registered in our sub-conscience that a certain writer does paid reviews, which means that the credibility of even voluntary (neutral) reviews goes down.

Ambuj : I completely get what you mean. However, I love blogging (may sound cliched) and if I make money off it what’s the harm. But then there are rules I follow,
If its a paid review (cash or kind) I always make a mention of it.
Take up projects only if they interest me, and not the money angle.
No buttering-up. Like or dislike, its might choice and not anyone else’s.

hey i loved the inkfruit website and more than website, the tshirts displayed there. good to see online tshirt shop with no rectangular patch! however, the prize money is really low and i think they shld share the revenue with designers for every sale of their design happening.
