21st Century Realities

This list basically comprises of occurrences which according to me have (somewhat) lost their ‘shocking’ element. Events/News which couple of years ago caused (or had the potential to cause) rippling effects, today are merely accepted as “Hota hai. Chalta hai. Duniya hai” mentality.

Some for the better and some, only worse.

  • Parents to marriageable Son/Daughter: “Tum Kudh Koi Doondh Lete Kyun Nahi”.
  • Man marries once. Man marries twice (while still married to first). Both wives know of each others existence. And the three live (together) happily ever after.
  • Mum, I am Gay.
  • Malika Sherawat going nude in her forthcoming film.
  • 6-Pack Abs.
  • Extra martial marital affair, the mantra behind every successful marriage.
  • Rakhi Sawant cries foul over reality show results.
  • Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan, an item.
  • Live-in Associations. A prerequisite.
  • Murderers/Scamsters operating via popular social networking sites.

Feel free to add more.

Very well put Sakshi, Rakhi Sawant has become quite famous some how, however i still dont like her as much and 6 pack abs have become a obssession for film stars, first it was SRK and now its Shahid who will be sporting 6 packs in his next movie.

I think you should add size zero to the list, which is the next wave in bollywood.

Cricket no more a sport but business opportunity.

I thought I am the only one who misspells marital and martial words. I am not alone :)

While we are on Mallika Sherawat,
- Emraan Hashmi breaking his own kissing record in his upcoming film
- The Nose’s next film getting more publicity for his cranial adornments than its songs or story or acting. (OK, this was not as shocking earlier either)

On opposite front, the dresses actresses wear outside their filmsets are getting more “shocking” responses. (And here’s the idea for another post)

Are there different levels of shock? Like, is Rakhi Sawant crying foul the same level as women acquiescing to bigamy?

Fas : Yup, how could I forget “size zero”, its a must on the list. And as for Rakhi Sawant, I still think she rocks as an entertainer. ;)

Commondo : But wasn’t cricket always more than a sport?

Max : Fixed it. Thanks. :)

Fleiger : Good ones boss. :)

Lekhni : Well, a shock is a shock is a shock. So degree nal ki pharak phenda hai. :) Also on the topic of bigamy, some time ago a cousin of mine got engaged but then he went ahead and married his high-school sweetheart. And just recently we found out that he later on also married the girl he was engaged to earlier. Changing times, I tell ya. ;)

BS : Okay now I get what your problem is; your banana has split. ;) (Oh, come on laugh…its funny).

Mario : Tell me about it! :)
