Maybe it’s just Mumbai’s thanda thanda cool cool weather (yes we have left the Delhiwallas peeche in this department too) or maybe Bollywood’s current “crazy love” trend – (whatever may be the reason) but another Hindi romantic ballad has found its way to the top in my iPod Hit-list.
Those of you who went nutty on the “Tum Se Hi” song from the runaway hit Jab We Met, I guarantee will be taken aback by a equally scintillating and lovey-mushy track - Pehli Nazar Mein – from the soon to be released film, Race.
Really, no kidding here; I have been listening to it all day and in all imaginable places and still can’t get enough. However unlike Tum Se Hi, Pehli Nazar Mein is mostly to grab your attention at the very first go. And the main reason behind it is, not surprisingly, singer Atif Aslam.
Personally speaking, after Woh Lamhe this is the only song of his I literally filliped over. Atif’s voice so smoothly blends with Sameer’s lyrics and Pritam’s composition, making it a lethal listening. And what’s an added bonus is the fact that this ain’t a Pakora Face aka. Emran Hashmi song.
Music-Composer Pritam continues to churn out some fantastic soft-rock ballads; especially since Life in a Metro and I sincerely hope he continues do so for a very long time.
My favorite bit….
Kar diya Deewana
Dard-e-Kash ne
Chain cheena
Isqh ke ehsaas ne
Bekhayali di hai
Tere pyaas ne
Chaya suroor hai
Kuch to zaroor hai
Yeh dooriyan
Jeene na de
Hal mera tujhe na pata
O jaan-e-jaan
Dono jahan
Meri bahon mein aa
Bhool Ja [Link]
And I also love the angreezi portion, one of the very few brilliant desi-fusions. Check out the YouTube video of Pehli Nazar Mein and get ready to be addicted.
As far as the film is concerned – Race, comes across as thriller (Director jodi Abbas Mastan specialty) with a trio-love-angle. Not that I need to say, Saif Ali Khan is looking super deadly (with and without upper wear). Akshay Khanna is in his usual fully-clothed attire; extremely hairy chest could be one of the reasons. I am just hoping his facial distortions are kept at bare minimum.
On the ladies front – Katrina darling is in her stunner avatar, though I get the feeling she hasn’t been given enough screen time. Sameera Reddy is looking all fit-n-fine and is served only as screen candy. And as for the main lady – Bipasha Basu – good or bad, I just don’t like her.
But only for KareLi’s sake, I pray the film clicks at the box office or else we will be in for another Abhi-Ash (pre-marriage) jinxed couple saga.

[...] new-generation Anu Malik – You know “paraya maal apna” sorts, especially with the lifting of “Pehli Naazar” from a Korean film. I mean seriously what the fuck he was thinking! In today’s Internet age (and [...]
