Outgrowing Another

Past few days have been very exciting, socially. However I can’t say the same when it comes to one’s “emotional” side – As a matter of fact things on this side have been quite topsy-turvy. And yet again, matters of the heart proved to be a little too heavy for an “I-Can’t-Handle-Relationships-Too Well” individual.

The thing is – Downside of any relationship is a painful experience and I totally get that, it’s something that comes along with the territory. However what makes this painful period even more excruciating, is not knowing what caused it all in the first place. I mean all the ingredients needed in a reasonably successful relationship are all there (and some even in abundance) – love, caring, sharing, honesty, faith and trust. So what? Where did I (We) go wrong?

Since I am one of those crazy people who continue to flaunt their self- annihilating habit of placing a “stop” sign on everything else in their life just because one department is slightly off-track – you can only imagine how stressful (& clueless) the past few days have been.

And then I read her post on Life Lessons, wherein I found my answer.

People outgrow their friends. It happens. Sometimes it doesn’t and I hope this doesn’t happen to you because it sucks either way - whether you feel like you really have nothing much in common anymore with a friend who was once the center of your universe or whether your friend feels that way about you. In either scenario you lose out. But it happens. It’s sad when it does but it’s a fact of life.

As the author points out – it’s a sad fact – but I am happy. Happy realizing that it’s not “us” but life itself to be blamed.

[Another Life Lesson – Blogs at times prove to be better agony aunts than those main-stream ones.]

Guess what? I was just discussing the same with a few friends the other day. But I will like to stretch it a little further by saying that this applies not only to friends but even between lovers. Not that one gets tired of the other but its just that “there are no more experiences to explore.

Even within a ‘friends’ criteria this usually happens with the intersex friendship , girls should really get it through their head , guys are for the most part unemotional creatures with their minds usually pondering over more basic primal needs (with others ofcourse) and many times they need to be left alone.

Relationships are indeed complex. Sometimes we outgrow people and drift apart but we continue to love them and thats what makes these relationships painful or just irritating;)

Things are only as complex as you make them, same with relationships. Keep it simple.

From what I have seen and learnt, relationships are not worth the effort. Might as well invest everything in your dogs. ;)

Well, at times like these, all I can say is, “Hugs, it’ll be ok! At least you can be sure I’ll always be around!”

PS: Let’s go drown our sorrows over the weekend, eh?

PS: Completely lol-ing over Doper’s comment. Wonder what girl said WHAT to him. Rejected his “primal need” perhaps? ;)

Doper, j/k!

I think time can be a healer or atleast a pain killer which would make you forget the surface pain.

Completely agree with the agony aunt part ;-)

Silence taking the place and everything else bears the brunt when one episode of life goes bad - Am not sure but doesn’t it happen to everyone? :S
