The Bucknored Effect, Featuring India-Aus Test Match.

Ponting

Australian Cricket Team, best in the world – no doubt.

Australian Cricket Team, brilliant role models – don’t think so.

Australian Cricket Team, example of sportsmanship – freaking no way.

UPDATE

The on-going drama in the international cricketing arena has been so much entertaining than any reality show aired till date; it’s seriously getting difficult to concentrate at work. However on a serious note, here are some of the best write-ups on the above, I have read so far.

In passing, and if this is arrogant then so be it, arrogance is a game two can play at – we don’t need to grandstand in order to gain control of the ICC; to buy it lock stock and barrel is, for the BCCI, merely a credit card swipe. Sheesh – don’t you get it? India does not need to do battle to dominate the financial side of the cricket world — it already owns that aspect, by default. So please could you stop dragging irrelevancies into this debate, and further muddying the waters?

Prem Panicker’s muah-fut reply to Robert Craddock’s article asking ICC to take a though stand against India and thereby not giving into our threats. Though I am not a big fan of Rediff Articles, Prem however makes it all worthwhile – dude, you totally rock re.

Harbhajan Singh can be an irritating young man but he is head of a family and responsible for raising nine people. And all the Australian elders want to do is to hunt him from the game. Australian fieldsmen fire insults from the corners of their mouths, an intemperate Sikh warrior overreacts and his rudeness is seized upon. It might impress barrack room lawyers.

Peter Roebuck fantastic piece in Sydney Morning Herald compels me to think of apna Turbanator in a completely new light. He also asks for sacking of Mr. Ricky Ponting – Ah! I am so lovin it.

And last but not the least,

Since Proctor is so well versed in racism, then he might also understand the point that many Indian fans are making today: black man, known for sledging, accuses brown man, known for temper, of racism -> brown man denies it -> umpires don’t hear it, stump mics don’t pick it up -> another brown man says he was right there and he didn’t hear it -> two white men say they heard it loud and clear -> white man says he believes the white men.

Super chick Indiequill looks at it from a different angle – maybe this incident will put an end to unhealthy practice of sledging in cricket.

What makes you think Aussies are the best team in the world? I’m sure you missed out on what the rest of the world has said about Australia time and again.

So thanks to Bucknor we’re finally agreeing on something ;-) . There is always a silver lining lurking there somewhere :D . Although I still don’t agree about the first part. I’m not saying they’re not. But two home series at home against India they’ve struggled, and would have lost the last series if it weren’t for Bucknor, again! So unless it’s a clean and fair contest, I wouldn’t even grant them that. Let them play within the spirit of the game, and let there be fair umpiring, and then we’ll talk.

On second thoughts, don’t you think its Ricky Ponting who resembles a chimp. :)

Actually, Ricky Ponting resembles Dubya (Bush Jr.).

I don’t think Harbhjan called him a monkey, he called him the missing link between monkeys and humans. I am not sure why he is upset about it, its a matter of pride for him. The entire scientific community is in search of it.
And what Harbhajan got for his path breaking discovery ,a ban for 4 tests.
