Meet the “Sarvanashak” Sena

It’s strange isn’t it, one end even after 60 years of Independence we are in so many ways struggling to voice our opinions and on the other hand, we witness many of these fanatical groups who give “freedom of expression” a complete new meaning – all under the masquerade of helping the aam nagarik.

Sarvanashak Sena = Mumbai City’s Official Thugs, Shiv Sena.

Somehow over the years, Shiv Sainiks and Violence seem to blend so perfectly that at times it’s difficult to associate one without the other. In order to accomplish their political goals, they can stoop to any level; pelting stones, damaging vehicles, burning public property and injure innocent civilians. Rampage and destruction is the only manner of Protest known to them.

To expect Apology or Regret from them is plain stupidity but more such agitation is a guarantee , so says senior most Shiv Sena leader, Manohar Joshi.

People have to suffer. Gehu ke saath ghun bhi peesta hai. I had warned the government and this is just the beginning. The Sena will show what it can do for farmers.

The above is his response in support of the recent incident in Navi Mumbai, where nearly 5000 Shiv Sainiks damaged over 200 cars, 10 buses and police jeeps and injured over 25 policemen – this was their anti-SEZ rhetoric. They are up-against the Maharashtra government over the acquisition of land from local farmers for the creation of Reliance group’s MahaMumbai SEZ in Navi Mumbai and Raigad districts.

But are Maharashtra’s so-called Loyal Sons really thinking about their suppressed brothers, the Raigad farmers and not their own party’s prosperity, I don’t think so. To me Shiv Sena’s violent anti-SEZ hullabaloo on Thursday was nothing but a part of the party’s strategy for a second coming in state politics, minus the BJP. Resorting to violence to solve issues seems to be the only way they think they can stack-up their vote bank.

It’s seriously high time these political goondas are shown that no matter how strong or noble intended they are in their agitations, they are still not above the State. The government needs to pull up their socks and take strict actions against Uddhav Thackeray and his platu chamchaas and thereby control their uncouth ways before it’s really too late.

It’s sickening that they can do this with impunity. But, I guess there are a lot of voters who find their brand of politics acceptable, or they wouldn’t be around.

What kind of maniacs were these? The idiot kind obviously. When will all the “boys” wake up and figure out that while they’re out vandalizing, oops, working for causes, the guys who make all the money off their efforts are sitting at home, sipping wine and waiting to come into power so that they can make more money and gain the necessary influence to keep out of jail?
