Pune BlogCamp And Me
Been at the Pune BlogCamp since freaking 9.30 am. The (early) morning started with a bang, for once I actually did keep to the fixed time. Melody and I left Mumbai at 6.00 am sharp with a pit-stop at Fariyas in Lonavala for breakfast.
As it is often said “first impression can be very wrong at times†– the introduction session not only had a poor crowd (forget seeing familiar faces or known names) but it was just really boring. I guess one can’t help but compare especially when you have attended a blogging conference like the Global Voices Meet in Delhi last year.
But guess what, slowly people started pouring in…and so did some of (good friends) Mumbai Bloggers. After that what happened could be easily counted as my two minutes of stardom. I mean seriously, never imagined being interviewed by leading newspapers and television channels, conversations with big honchos of the virtual world and all over nothing else but my blog.
Anyway detailed post about the entire event would be up tomorrow, for now here are some snaps to give the feeling of the fun.

drove back to Pune after a wonderful weekend. I will cover some other stuff and pics in a later post. A side-effect of this weekend trip to Lonavala was I missed attending the very first bloggers’ meet in Pune. From the initial posts I see on blogs (here, here, and here), advertisers apparently spent some time marketing their wares during the intial sessions, while the Bombay bloggers hogged some of the limelight during the rest of the day. The meet got a lot of media attention from the mainstream

I wouldn’t have known about this BarCamp if I hadn’t came across this post of Dhivya. This post led me to the Bloggers’ Meet @ BrewHaHa on 21st July and from there - to this mega event of BCB4. I always read about Bloggers’ Meets @ Mumbai,Puneand other metros of India but never heard of any such thing being held in B’lore. I always wanted to have something like that here. So the idea of BCB4 was really ‘dream come true’ for me. Added excitement was the opportunity of sharing my little input

While I won’t debate the “it was fun” aspect, I think it was more of a trade fair than a blog camp. The debate on “Tradiation v/s Modern Media” and the discussion on “Blogging for the Young Professional”, and of course the talk on “The Negative Aspects of Blogging” were just about the only sessions that were non-promotional.
p.s: Cool auto-preview

Totally agree with Arnold. Marketing/promotional stuff totally made me come back after the lunch. Anyway, I am hopeful next event would have better stuff..
Come to Barcamp, I am gonna talk about Creative-Commons, Sydincation (Media RSS, Stats etc) and Microformats.. I would try to keep it simple so that anyone can understand these and be aware of it

Hi Sakshi
I liked the way you handled the fruggot mentioned in the case study. Thumbs up for you. I wish the next event wherever it is held doesnt have the sponsors and the marketing honchos. This was supposed to be for the serious bloggers and the issues concerning them, not about the marketing duds promoting their good for nothing products.
You along with Melody (I hope I spell it right) were the unbeaten stars of the sedate event which promised much, but delivered low on the content.
Cool blog. Anyways blogrolled you, without permission. I feel good reading knows no boundaries and copyrights stuff or like that.
Fun
SU.

Too much of marketing talks spoils the spirit
I agree Abdul, this is not in the flavor of barcamps & hence we decided at the kickout talk to have a separate thread for sponsors to talk whatever they want & whoever wishes can attend that.
Hope to see you guys on 7th
