"Now this one is a cracker of a box office performance! Could one have ever imagined that a hardcore action film with a realistic theme and carrying a city-centric title would break records across the country at number of places and place itself into the Top-10 list of all time first week box office earners? Well, SHOOT OUT AT LOKHANDWALA has done the impossible as it has collected as much as 18.5 crores in the first week to get itself a HIT tag right away! The film had a massive first week and even though there is an expected fall in second week, it is but obvious considering the fact that huge number of prints in circulation meant horde of audience having a dekko at the film in first week itself.

The film saw 4.25 crores coming from Mumbai but this was not the only place from which the film earned its moolah! Ahmedabad was superb too with close to 1 crore coming in while Delhi was good at 1.5 crores with NCR contributing further 70 lakhs.

Sanjay Dutt has proved his power at the box office once again while shifting from a usual gangster role to a tough cop. Vivek Oberoi has found a well deserved success for himself and should choose his projects with a close eye from here on. Apoorva Lakhia now has a big success under his belt and he has to thank his producer Sanjay Gupta for entrusting him with his responsibility and ensuring a massive promotional campaign to get the film number of eyeballs."

Full2njoy - :D Hamesha! I only remember one thing about that movie - Kajol is acting full on and the scene is very tense, I think Aditya Panscholi's mooch was coming to get them - and Saif says: "Rani" in the most squeaky tone I ever heard! the entire theatre started laughing. So glad his voice matured. (a little at least)

I had watched the original version of Zinda, the korean movie Old Boy. The movie was so disturbing that i had no mood to even have dinner that night. Old Boy was about incest. Look at the copy that Sanjay Gupta made. I was rolling in the aisle laughing while watching Zinda.

I dunno if anyone remembers, but Sanjay Gupta once made a movie called Hamesha starring Kajol and Saif. I still believe, that is probably his only OK movie along with Aatish.

Both were copies. Still....

Sakshi : Ya, that's what my point is. I said
BO records are not the true yard-stick for judging any movie."
That's the only point we r agreeing upon.
And I agree with Ravindra's point that
SAL I feel will sail through due to its hype, whatever its flaws may be.
Personally, I hate Vivek Oberoi. Maybe 'coz my X-GF is her die-hard fan. I wonder how can anybody like that 'Chiki Bandar'.

Bikram - Yaar, Gupta ke liye Bhagwan ko kyun yaad kar rehe ho. Anyways, Kaante was good cause it was different from the rest in terms of direction, the feel...the look but all this was then. Today we have had tons of Kante likes, plus Gupta's treatment is now getting boring. Not all can get away like the Chopras and Johars who repeat the same formula again and again and still manage to recover their monetary inputs.

Agreed at the end of the day, BO result is what counts but to say that a film is good just cause of BO status is not completely justified. I mean in our country even the weirdest of films become superhit, remember Ramgardh Ke Sholay. ;)

Ravindra : Your liking for Mr. Oberoi is enough justification for your comment. :)

My guess is CK will flop. Personally, I find both AB (in this role) and Tabu (always) irritating! Add to this, the title number "cheeni kum hai, cheeni kum hai" gets on my nerves!

SAL I feel will sail through due to its hype, whatever its flaws may be. I hope this means something good for my favorite (but despised by most others) Vivek Oberoi!

'Zinda' was pathetic. 'Hey Bhagwan - Uthaale. Mujhe nahi....' (guess kisko). Then what do U have to say about Kaante? Maybe it's copy of some hollywood flick but we don't bother 'bout it untill we know it. It was a rocking movie anyway.

In SAL, AB plays a DCP or somethin. And the movie's been BO-rocker whenever he does that (not counting his starting days of 2nd innings - movies like bare miya chhote miya). Take Khakee for example. BO records are not the true yard-stick for judging any movie. RHTDM didn't get a nice opening. But today, we look @ it as one of the nicest loveey-doveey movie.
