Suchitra Krishnamurthy - a “one-hit†Bollywood actress, part-time pop singer & painter and now ex-Mrs. Shekhar Kapoor. The lady has been on-and-off news lately and not because of her talents but instead for her failed-marriage to one of Bollywood’s well-known director.
Now before our desi-media could even start to dig in the juicy gossip and make merry in their Page 3 section with detailed analysis of the break-up, Ms. Krishnamurthy did the job of presenting the masala platter herself. Apparently Suchitra, who also has been bitten by the blogging bug, wrote several slurring posts on her blog accusing a popular main-stream bollywood actress of having an affair with her now ex-husband director Shekhar Kapoor – often referring to the other woman as “maneaterâ€.
Obviously such provoking words, as expected, threw the media hounds in frenzy. And finally after three years since her separation, Suchitra comes clean about her depressing past, which stars none other than Hindi Film Industry’s top actress, Preity Zinta as the perfidious maneater.

It looks like the goons at the Information & Broadcasting ministry are back in the news for doing what they are most well known for – hoodlum-giri.
In January, minister P R Dasmunshi banned the AXN satellite channel, for two months for showing a program called World’s Sexiest Advertisements citing the reasons as “bad taste†and “against Indian moralitiesâ€. Well to me, at that time, the only guys with bad taste seemed to be none other than Mr. Dasmunshi and his battalion.

I have not being feeling to well off late and therefore lack of action on this blog over the past few days. Yesterday was nothing great either, left work darn early and on the way home stopped by at the local rental DVD shop. From the “new arrival†section, I picked a romantic comedy centered on an Indian family living away from homeland.
Nina’s Heavenly Delights is mainly focused on Nina Shah, a young Indian-Scottish woman who ran away from home some 3 years back on the day of her arranged marriage. But now she has to go back to her Scottish town to attend her father’s funeral. She rushes home, only to be stuck in the middle of a family crisis.
Nina discovers that her father had a gambling problem and had bet half-ownership of the family restaurant, the New Taj, on a horse race. Since he lost the bet, the New Taj is now half-owned by Mr. Mackinlay but the restaurant dealings are looked after by his daughter Lisa. Since New Taj has nothing much to offer after Nina’s fathers death, Lisa and her Nina’s mother have decided to sell it off to a local rival.

Okay now I know all this was done to support and spread awareness for good cause but I just couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this picture of Akshay Kumar with actress Ashley Judd in today’s Mid-Day.

Really cheesy, don’t ya think?

Technically speaking there is actually nothing much to review in a film like Namastey London. It’s your typical Bollywoodish romantic film, with typical story line and very typical characters. So if you are not a watcher of so called “masala films†then this one is definitely not for you.
Now I love watching films and will go any lengths to watch anything for the sake of watching a films – and so Saturday night was wasted spent over a film filled with script irregularities, directorial flaws, bucket loads of PJs and last but not the least ancient notions on apna Swades and paraya Inglaaand. But then again this is Bollywood and people here will try to cash in on anything, so sensibilities can go to hell.
Expecting nothing to be gained, I watched the film and exactly the same way I walked out after (an easily avoidable experience by many) two and half hours of screen time.

An anonymous reader sends this in, taunting me to paste it up. Usually I scrap such moronic emails but this one is quite amusing.
How do you know when a woman is about to say something smart?
When she starts a sentence with “A man once told me…”
I guess certain flights of fantasy can be very good for such helpless souls, so all I will say in reply, “Dream on dude”.
