Now this post is slightly off the usual topics we rant about on TEIO. But then again don’t they say “Variety is the Spice of Life”, so take a moment and go thru this and let me tell you that your VOTE could help me get a flashy meal off someone else’s expense.

Superman – My Hero No.1 |
Yesterday at a close friend’s party I landed up having a massive argument with some of the guys. The reason of disagreement was Superman is not the ultimate Superhero.
The thing is I am a total Superman freak and for me he is ranked higher than even Salman Khan – so now you can guess how serious I am about the man in red undies. But to my shocking horror not many think or feel the same for the Krypton super dude.
Some gave valid points on why Spiderman and Batman were more impressive while there were others who stuck on to nobodies like Blade, Thunderbird, Daredevil and The Hulk. Sadly, no one even mentioned He-Man considering the fact that there was a time when we fought with our friends just to be the first to mutter words like, “By the power of Grayskull…I have the power!”. (On a side note, this is currently me cell’s ringtone with the original background score).
Anyways since I am the owner of a popular blog with a decent traffic score (talk about modesty…huh!!), my friends and I have decided to hold a poll where you, the readers make the decision on who takes the ultimate Superhero title. Since many of us have more than one favorite, keeping that in mind I have kept the option of picking (your) best three from the given lot.
I agree that this post is slightly biased towards one of the contenders but then again I truly believe in the notion, “To Each Its Own” – so I assure you there will be no hanky-panky business in declaring the results.
We have only 7 days people, so place your bets votes now.

Superheroes can be defined many ways. I go for the ones who are examples to others. Superman is first. Phantom is second. Batman too, but he is the wrong kind of example. There’s my two paise.

Superman? You kidding me !
Batman gets the nod–hands and pants–both down.
While I’m at it, I don’t think Phantom is a genuine super hero (I still read phantom, mandrake etc. everyday and pay for it), — Phantom is cool, he’s an addiction, just like Mandrake, Rip Kirby. But none of the above guys, although I’m a HUGE fan of everyone of them, is a true super-hero.
Superman and Batman, both started their careers much like Phantom in the 30s, but DC took them to an entirely new level since 80s and never looked back. And they are getting better everyday.

Q Bit – Buddy, sad ki apni apni pasand.
I guess cause he wears too many dark shades could be another reason I don’t like him much.

Superman has always been a favorite of women, I guess primarily because of his chocolatee-gayboy looks more than anything else. Whilst Batman is more “male” and “macho” I guess. For me Nagraj would win hands down hehehehe

Suyog – Boss you and I never agree, do we? Anywaz, how can you call Superman “gayish”..I mean look at the pic I have pasted in this post…look at his ripling muslces…the manly “I am the King” sort-ta look. Plus I was under the impression..that girls often fell for the “bad” boys. Batman to me is..Okayish.

There used to be a cartoon on Star Plus in the days when the channel still featured Bold and the Beautiful and Santa Barbara – called BananaMan. A superhero who used to goof up a lot.
What about “The Mask”. He is a superhero too, saving the world from mad scientists and giant ogres. It used to be one of my favs on CN, especially the Hindi dub. (Yeah yeah, Hindi dub might make you think otherwise, but it was just too hilarious). And the name of the character in Hindi version was Gaurav Sabnis’s brother – Sachin Sabnis.

Technically, Spiderman can fight crime only if there are high rise buildings. He would be a flop in many places. I am not sure of his spider web range.
Hulk, looks like an ogre. Not many people would appreciate it.
Batman needs fuel to run batmobile. Not at all enviornment friendly.
Phantom and Superman it is. I dont care about the rest.

Ashwin – Good logical explanation…as I said “Superman” is the ONLY man.
Sunil – I don’t know if these guys could qualify since they need to work in groups inorder to ridd-off the bad guys. Though I think…Wolverine is way too hot to handle.

Sakshi: If always we go by the adage to each its own – sab ki apni apni pasand- there would hardly ever be any debate about anything. Yes Batman is too dark — and sometimes annoyingly dark — but he’s more human than the rest despite having the “super powers” that are derivative of this planet. I always find it an excellent blend of not too godly and not too human — the shades are just about right.
And I like black, so may be my bias is doing the talking. And by the way, batman stories, at least those that are the product of the last 20 years are more compelling than anything else. Again sab ki apni apni –
