Abhishek-n-Aishwarya Engaged : Breaking News (Not)!!

If you have cable network at home then there is no possibility of missing the (tons of time earlier confirmed and talked about) Breaking News of the New Year – Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s very hush-hush engagement last evening.

As per what I have seen on tele, it seems Mr. Bachchan has taken the effort of calling in each and every news station in the country and personally letting them in on his family’s joyous occasion – since all the channels are claiming to be the first one to come out with the dhamakedar khabbar.

If you really have spare time and nothing good is on TV, then I would recommend you to watch the Hindi News channels like Aaj Tak, Star News, etc; believe me you wont regret it, its comedy at its best.

So intrigued are they by celebrity lives that there are just no limits to their stupidity. For example, one channel even went to the extent of having a chat with some pundit discussing questions like “Kya aab Aishwarya ke upar se mangal hat gaya hai?”, “Kya Bachchan parivaar ko aur bhi mandiron mein paat karma chahiye?”, “Kya aap ko lagta hai ke yeh shaadi safal hogi?” and “Aap ke anusaar shaadi ka sahi mahuraat kabhi hai?”. My advice to the Bachchans would be to simply sit back and watch their future being forecasted on desi-news channels.

Then there was another news coverage where an attempt to answer questions like “why, when and how Abhishek & Ash fell in love?” – Yes, I can see how important this is for our nation’s future.

Though I still can’t understand the “Breaking” bit about this information since Abhi-Ash love tango has been the topic of discussion for the past few months. Anyways one could expect this frenzy to go on for days to come considering how Bollywood driven our MSM is.

Oh! There were other reports claiming that Viviek Oberoi was seen walking towards Abhishek’s Jalsa bunglow bare foot and wearing boxing gloves in his hands. Also Shah Rukh Khan has summoned his PR guys to hype up his KBC act since he can’t bear to be over-shadowed by his rival Amitabh Bachchan. Okay! Okay! Now this bit I made up but yaar after all apni life bhi thodi filmy hai.

Sakshi:hehe!Couldn’t agree more with you on this. This is BREAKING News and becomes part of the Headlines in the news today show’s just how ‘unimportant’ all other issues circling society are eh!Seriously, big whoop that the two actually ‘officially’ got engaged..the media has already been following their every more, shows just how jobless the media has become.

I was having my breakfast Sunday morning(night there) and was in a rush to get to my class as I was committed to reading there this morning. And there…this breaking news flashes….I could not resist myself but sat back, absorbed this juicy news and surfed some other news channels too. Though I got late but more than made it up by letting my group know this “breaking news” news.

Someone told me that the journos are going to build a mini quarters outside Jalsa, Ash’s bandra home, Illahabad considering all that is happening at these places . Is it true?? :)

Utsa : Ah! Well some would say this is what the masses want to see and hear. So totally can’t blame the medis…can we?

Preeti - Yaar, frankly you never know. But suprisingly since the news is still fresh, I did not see any MSM folks outside teh Bachchan bunglow this morning, on my way to work.

Sakshi: Absolutely, I am sure there’s many people who would love nothing more than the latest update on celebrity personal life. I was just going by what you said in your post above where you indicated that some TV Channels go to the extent of throwing the above questions at the Priests.:)
Anyway, might as well now get used to seeing the two together as a Couple for good I suppose.

Well many are speculating it to be a PR driven move considering the fact that “Guru” film is not doing well at the box office. Mid-day says it all.

A sale depends on demand and supply. Actors and actresses have a public life which they sell to earn money on ads. This makes them as public as their reputation. They build brand value from being public apart from their main job acting. I am very surprised how much acting is involved in today’s hindi movies. It is all packaging and sale of glamour mostly. Public declaration of life is a part of it. Arent you trying to discuss a topic that caught your attention (negative or positive, seeing means buying on televison). Maybe I would have never seen it more intently than I watched Dhoom 2. Was it worth your spending time for blog?

By the way, I never knew Datla Chiranjeevi pasted real pics till I tried to believe if he has some truth in what he says. I am amazed at his guts if he does what he says. Look at one aspect of it, I came to you site because of his blog. Its humorous and thats how I see it.

You somehow seem to belong to a fundamentalist faction of perceivers and if you say you like opinions voiced, I voice it. You are free to voice that too. After all its a free world. Let me know if my comments on your blog dissuade you from writing or create discomfort in you which is the last thing I want. Its just that I do not believe to a faction of hard liners on opinions and oopose it whenever I feel like.

Ash - For the first bit. Frankly I don’t know what you are getting at here? Well mostly anyone and everyone knows that Bollywood and Glamour go hand in hand. Agree celebrities use the media for their movies, ads, etc but I highly doubt if they like it when the media intrudes in their personal matters. Obviously there are the wanna-bes who would go to any extent to get in the news….

My post in on how the media goes a bit too far when it comes to reporting news especially Bollywood - that’s it. From your comment I take it that you didn’t understand my point. :)

Now getting to Mr. Datla, when for you it might be amusing but if in my shoes it wouldn’t be the same. I won’t call someone like him gutsy, he is more of a sleaze scumbag. And I am not that desperate to increase my blog traffic thru such assholes. But labeling his act as something brave you are only encouraging these bastards.

And as for Free Speech, I am totally for it - as long as people don’t intrude my personal space. :)

Sakshi, the point I am hinting at here is the more popular a person becomes, the more of his/her life becomes public. While some earn money out of it using as their brand value, some use it for other means, one of them being politics. What I try to show you is, it is but natural to getting lives public the more one becomes famous. Nobody tries into intruding into their personal life just by showing some footage of what they are doing or discussing meaningless future for them. Every piece of information is news. Its the audience for it that matters. If you choose to sideline such blabbering on televison you deny to participate in it and it automatically thins down. A televison shows the public face of mass interest. Its driven by mass interest and trp, not just ethics.

I think you forgot the face of paparazzi in American glamour industry.

About Mr. Datla, I understand the intrusion into the privacy of individual as you. I am not in your shoes still I do not support Mr. Datla, not because I have some ethics or values with me to boast of. But yes there was a certain aspect of humour out of the incident and not at your cost but at his own. And chill lady!! Your smileys look better than utterances of “asshole”. He he.

Anyways, thats pretty much of the fight for the day. Keep on your blogging. Dont worry I wont make you famous because I got to you through Datla (I hardly doubt its his real name, he seems a film fanatic). Btw, I need to catch some sleep else I will keep on blabbering on your blog in name of free speech.

Cheers.
