iPhone : Apple’s Black Beauty |
Some of the revolutionary features of Apple’s newest creation are:
* 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen.
* It’s an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch display and innovative new software that lets you control everything using only your fingers.
* iPhone’s full QWERTY soft keyboard lets you easily send and receive SMS messages in multiple sessions. And the keyboard is predictive, so it prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use.
* Features a 2-megapixel camera and a photo management application.
* iPhone features a rich HTML email client and Safari.
* A fully multi-tasking device, so you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background over Wi-Fi or EDGE.
* With Google Maps and iPhone’s amazing Maps application, you can view maps and satellite images, or get directions and traffic information.
* Advanced Sensors: iPhone’s accelerometer detects when you rotate the device from portrait to landscape and then automatically changes the contents of the display. Its proximity sensor detects when you lift iPhone to your ear and immediately turns off the display to save power and prevent inadvertent touches until iPhone is moved away.

iPhone’s other Tech Specs |
The iPhone will launch in June in the USA, in an exclusive partnership with the States’ biggest mobile telco, Cingular. And it expected to come out in Europe by end of this year. India, Australia and other Asian countries would have to wait till beginning of 2008 (now this is really depressing).
But don’t be disheartened; by going with the way things usually work, I guess the un-locked version of iPhone will be available on eBay within couple of months from its American launch. So till then beg, borrow or steal cause this baby surely ain’t gonna be cheap.

Wowz… surely, its amazing. Wifi included.
The only grouses - OS X. Maybe its a good OS, but its not that easy to use. But then, Apple cannot bundle Windows CE, can they
Next - Apple stuff is costly. They lost out to IBM and Compaq (Intel PCs) in the PC segment in 80s and 90s , mostly because of their over-pricing, even though they had a better processor and OS. Hope they have learnt their lessons this time.

Shadows - As mentioned in the post, iPhone is most likely to be in the higher price bracket. Me thinking anywhere around $600-$800. But with time, it will drop as well. Just the way the pricing for iPods have dropped over the years.
As for Windows CE, well I am sure they will get around that too.
By hook or by crook…I am getting this baby.

Yeah, sadly
Apple is pricey.
No wonder, Nokia rules the market. They know how to price, and when to drop the price. And they do it very very well. The first few buyers of high end phones of theirs are generally the ones who want the snob value. Another player who is giving good competition is Sony Eriksson.

the 4GB version is priced at 499$ and the 8GB at 599$.
Nokia ain’t any cheaper. Am eyeing the soon to be released Nokia model….by all estimates it is 600$.
And frankly not everyone wants to get the newest product for snob value. That’s one fat brush to paint with….
There is just the thrill of trying out new technology, or playing with a new “toy”.

Sakshi:
I read in the news though that Cisco is to sue Apple for bringing out the iPhone as Cisco already introduced the IP phones technology long before.
Being technically-challenged that I am, isn’t there a difference between iphone’s by Apple than the ‘Ip’Phones from Cisco?
