Global Voices Summit - Touching Base

Introduction Session of GV Summit - New Delhi 2006

Days can only get better and I am hope it stays this way atleast till I get over the catastrophes of the previous month. And yes! I heard the good news (thanks to dozens of e-mails, text messaged and a few calls) - Rakhi baby is back!!

Now getting back to the topic at hand - Global Voices Summit, New Delhi. Touched base, Habitat Center at 8.45 am and after sorting out a little confusion, thanks to Neha I was able to find my way to the conference hall. A medium sized semi-circle room filled with unfamiliar faces but some known virtual friends. Frankly speaking, I am sitting here but I am still finding it so hard to get over the reality that I am actually pursuing something that I took so lightly a couple of months back.

In the span of 20 minutes, I met desi-bloggers who till today I had only heard or read about.

The first blogger I bumped into, who considers me to be a “wacky blogger” (and but obviously Rakhi Sawant has a lot to do with it) was Kamla Bhatt. Needless to say she is an amazing lady who not only has an interesting blog but a charismatic attitude as well.

Thru her I was introduced to Jace, with whom I an interesting conversation on none other but the kissy-licious Malika Sherawat. At the tea room, I walked into Aparna Ray and we had this, “I think I know you” kind-da look.

Finally around 9.30 am, the first session of the summit began. I heard someone saying to someone, “If we wait any longer, it will take us noon to begin” - how true, we Indian simply can’t function on global time; Indian Standard Time is the only thing that we work by.

Here are some snaps from the on-going GV Summit. (Thanks Jace)

Thanks. At least I know GV 06 has taken off. I was not able to connect to the promised IRC channel and there seemed to be no activity detectable anywhere. Look forward to hearing about it on your blog. Enjoy!

Sunil - Really surprising because from what I have understood IRC channel is working fine and they are answering a lot of questions from IRC participants. Anyways try again.
