Me, My Ego and My Nose : Himesh Reshammiya
Now I always sided with Himesh Reshammiya and his nasal tone. I mean whatever he achieved in a short span of time; was and is commendable. Come on, I am sure even you guys would end up appreciating his nose much more than listening to Anu Mallik’s squeaky voice.
But nobody likes a man with an inflated ego and this is what basically is overshadowing Himesh Bhai’s popularity and hard-earned success.
A statement made in Surat by the ever-controversial Himesh Reshammiya has incensed singing diva Asha Bhosle beyond repair, provoking her to express violent thoughts on Himesh.
Apparently, the offensive remark had Himesh accusing RD Burman of singing nasally. Bhosle, not one to take such remarks lying down, responded, “If anyone says Burman sa’ab sang through his nose, he should be slapped.”
After making such provoking statements, Himesh seems baffled by the turn of events. “I don’t know what has hit me. It was never my intention to insult Panchamda (RD). How can I, when I’ve grown up learning music compositions by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and RD?”
Himesh Bhai maybe its time you held on firmly to your Topi, especially while giving out such loud-mouth statements.

We all have a right to express our views. In many instances; it will be against ours and in some; with us. To hear them out is 'decency' but to let them get to you is 'weakness'.

Hi Sakshi,
Himesh-bhai’s big head and annoying voice aside, what people tend to forget when discussing The Nasal One is that he owes much of his fame, success and glory to the the PR juggernaut and hype-machine superpower that is T-Series.
If you keep telling Himesh’s dim-witted audience what a brilliant talent he is long enough, they eventually start to believe it and thats exactly what T-Series did. There’s really very little in his music to force the same conclusion. While he may have had a couple of decent hits, most people would be hard pressed to tell you what their favourite Himesh song is - mainly cause they all sound the same.
As far as his singing goes, his mournful drones are the easiest in the world to sing, but because he’s got so much money behind him people tend to forget the really great singers in India right now. (Like KK or Euphoria’s Palash Sen or even, though im not a fan, Sonu Nigam).
Im inclined to think that Himesh’s inability to handle his fame and success simply showcases his lack of class.
I really really wish people would start thinking for themselves and stop believing all the hype thats stuffed down their throats but then, thats not going to happen in my lifetime, is it?

Forget his ego and his own nasal voice and music, I think what Himesh said is actually true. RD Burman sang via his nose in one song. Listen to mehbooba mehbooba from Sholay. Also he said the same about Nusrat (that qawwali singer from pakistan, who became hit in india), in Sunday Times. Quite true there too.
Now, there will be many people defending nusrat and rd, but there are many who feel the same - that nusrat and rd both sang nasally. Not just me, but many other friends of mine think the same.

Shadows - I might agree on the same when it comes to Nusrat Ali Khan but not RD Burman. Maybe he did use the nasal tone…here and there but not entirely like Himesh.

Himesh is a rubbish singer, considering what he sings. Although, we have to accept that today, his popularity has quadrupled, making him the heartbeat of the general public and one of the most pupolar artists in India. However, his style of singing does NOT match the “good music label” which only people not included in the generaly public like. The point is, he is good at a certain extent considering he s grown so popular within the general public. But when he starts making stupid comments after being completely blinded by his sudden popularity, thats when it starts getting out of the hand. What an idiot, I say, that he tryies to compare himself with some of the greatest singers in music history.

Himeshu makes good use of his nose apart from respiration. Thats the good part of Him and its not that easy to sing with nose. Those who have mastered this art they become leged — RD Burman, N A Khan whomever you say. What do you say about Mika??
