Michael Jackson : King of Flops

I can’t help but feel pity for this man.

Michael Jackson seems to do nothing but attract negative news with no matter what he does. Inspite of being acquitted of the child molestation case in 2005, the yester-year’s superstar simply can’t get his grove right.

And once again he has managed to make it to the top of the newspaper headlines and No! It’s not for another New Jersey nose job.

Michael Jackson’s most awaited performance at the recently held World Music Awards in London, did nothing but disappoint most of his fans.

The legendary pop-star was expected to perform is all time super-hit single “Thriller” with R&B singer Chris Brown but instead he only sang a few lines of We Are The World before leaving the stage. Thriller was performed by Chris Brown alone.

Apparently, the pissed off fans are now demanding refund on their tickets which they bought to watch his performance.

BBC Reports:

Entry to the award show cost as much as 100 pounds, and fans say they were misled by promises that Jackson would perform a version of his hit single, Thriller.

“I’m furious,” said Katherine Kidd, who spent 200 pounds to get to the show. “I feel like I’ve been ripped off.”

“People were expecting something significant but he didn’t perform at all,” said Abdo Binmadhi, who travelled from Oxford for the show at Earls Court in London.

“When the lights went on I saw people’s faces and they were like: ‘Is that it?’”

“I should have just stayed at home and watched it on TV… We should definitely get a refund.”

Plus this is not it. There are many who are wondering whether the performance was cut-short because of the star’s sudden stage-fright and what’s become of his (over the years) transformed ‘Face’.

The Mirror’s Tom Bryant speaks to “an onlooker” who suggests that as well as losing his face, Jacko’s lost his bottle. “This was supposed to be the great return of the King of Pop but it ended up a shambles.” Yes, yes, get on with it. “He must have performed to bigger crowds than that thousands of times but he seemed overawed and petrified.”

As a kid, I remember watching his only live-performance in India. It was held at Andheri Sports Ground in Mumbai and needless to say, the place was jam-packed. To say that his stage-act was fantasist would be such an understatement, it was one of the best live-performance I have seen till date. One of the highlights of his Indian concert was where he hung himself on top of a giant-ladder which was suspended from the stage on top of the front-stage audience. The crowd simply went wild and so did stars like Prabhudeva, Govinda and Sanjay Dutt who were present at the event.

But to see what’s become of him today is just plain depressing.
