I came across this bit of news via Patrix’s blog.
“Bill O’Reilly, the patriarch for all things loony and conservative (values-wise) is now going to “look into this” [video link]; ‘this’ being America’s fondness for horror movies.”
Now it seems that this dude, O’Reilly has either fallen to the pits of stupidity or is simply going through some mid-life crisis kinda-situation. I mean, what else could be the reason behind his detestation towards the genre of Horror flicks.
I just understand why (some) people have this pathetic view-point towards the so-called ‘Ugly Duckling’ of the reel world. It is simply impossible to imagine Hollywood without great master pieces like The Omen, Evil Dead, Saw and most of all men like Janson and Freddie. According to Mr. Bill O’Reilly, horror movies are more cherished with the likes of Dracula and Frankenstein because they manage to evoke those scary feelings without indulging in gruesome violent scenes - but dude, if I wanted to watch these sort off films then I might as well go back to nursery school and start singing baby rhymes. Yes! I would like this genre to be presented to me in a platter of guts, with a dash of bone chowder and the red-bloody sauce to add flavor. And I am sure even non-horror fans like Neil Crespi wouldn’t mind going through such scary experience, once in a while.
In his ridiculous show, one of the lady-guest had this to say about horror-movie watchers “only people who like Saw 3 are those who “are on tranquilizers” or “like toys.” Now with this statement I am forced to believe that she is most definitely on ‘tranquilizers’ herself, I mean why else would you appear on a show like this and for a host like O’Reilly.
The bottom line is here is simple - O’Reilly has a very weak heart and therefore lacks a strong mind capable of watching films like Saw and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think he is better off going through senseless films like Something About Mary, Men in Black, Independence Day and the likes. So it would be better if he just shuts-up, especially when it comes to topics on which he has no clue.
Thinking locally, I would surely be equally ticked-off if anybody tries to take the Ramsay Brothers versions of daravani movies from Bollywood.
