Nightmare on Halloween

There is an old saying, “Life is full of Surprises and Shocks” and oh! Boy, how well have I been given a practical demonstration of the same in the span of four days.

The surprise portion came in with the Saturday night’s blog meet at my residence. Mostly all of them had a good time (atleast that’s what they have written) and for me it was not only great fun but also a valuable lesson on, how to manage social things single-handily.

The good-felling factor lasted only for the next two and halves days and then it was time for me to go thru mother of all shockers.

My beloved beta, my babu, my baby Spike met with a horrible accident. According to the care-takers version, Spike was attacked by 3-4 stray dogs during his evening stroll. My genius house-keepers didn’t think it to be important enough to ring me at work and inform about the horrible incident. Finally went I got home around 8.15 pm from work, I was told about the mishap in a very causal manner. When I stepped into my backyard where Spike is usually put, I saw the poor creature limping on one foot, bleeding profusely but still showing affection with his continuously wagging tail. Mind you, the incident took place around 6.30ish, so he had been in un-believable amount of pain for the past couple of hours.

I immediately loaded him in my car and was off to the local vet. Spike and Rusti’s doctor sits in her clinic only in the early part of day so I had no choice but to take him to one dim-witted asshole of a vet. On looking at Spike’s injured leg, his prognosis was that it’s been badly fractured and therefore needs an x-ray. And with a pain-killer injection and minor clean-up of the wound, he sent me to Kandavali to meet a specialist. Half-way thru, I was finally able to get the specialist on his cell only to be informed that he was out of town and would see me only at 10.00 am the next day.

After that it was nothing but a run chase in a tiny hell hole for me. While my driver drove the car back home and Spike bleeding getting severe, I was making a calls to millions vets as well as holding on to my baby pooch. But then again in a country where thousands of humans die regularly due lack of medical facilities, where the heck was I going to find an animal hospital open around 10.00 in the night.

With no options left, I decided to call on my vet who happens to live very close to my house. Thankfully she was at home and was decent enough to attend to Spike even at an odd hour.

Since 30th night, I have barely managed to leave Spike alone even for couple of minutes. According to the specialist he would require an operation of the fractured front right paw. They need to insert a metal plate between the joints, which will help him to utilize his injured leg just as before. But on the other-hand the surgery doesn’t guarantee that he would be able to walk about without any deformities. As of now, they have placed a plaster on the paw; the bleeding is still on but very minimum and nothing of grave concern. The surgery mostly will be done on Monday or Tuesday and after that he would require complete rest and constant attention for the next 25-30 days.

So I would just like to inform you guys that I may not be able to blog that regularly for atleast a month or so, obviously because my baby needs me more than anything else. And most important of all, I need him more than anyone in this world.

Aah..damn..tch tch..poor boy. Hope he gets well soon. I too am missing my kid, Caesar. :(
It is so painful to see animals in distress. We can be vocal and gain sympathy/complain/get treated for our injuries, however slight. But it’s unbearable to see animals (especially dogs) when they are hurt, because they cannot express it like we do..And even in excruciating pain, they will not let their affection for us diminish.
Take care, you both.

I wonder why most female bloggers call themselves Ash… or use pictures of Ash in their profiles.

Sad to hear that Sakshi, but I believe animals heal faster and better than us.
