Viveik Oberoi is finally famous – Credit to Blog Pardy

Perhaps the title is a little mis-leading but it also contains some percentage of truth init.

Surely by now most of you out there must have heard about the ‘Blog Meet of the Year’, which was held at my place, obviously by me. And incase you haven’t then that’s really sad (for ya).

Never have I ever felt so jittery in hosting a get-together and believe me I have organized quite a few in my life up till now. But this time round it was different, especially since I didn’t have my mum or sister-in-law helping me out; which meant practically doing everything. So with family holidaying in Turkey, a task of pleasing invited desi-bloggers, running behind the cook and harassing the house-helpers to clean up the past few days ka mess – things were not looking all the rosy.

But thankfully my invitees made it all worthwhile, so what if most of them turned up nearly couple of hours later than the intended time.

We discussed practically everything under-the-moon but blogging. The likes of Pran, Viveik Oberoi, Miland Soman, Rahul Bose, Govinda, Mandira Bedi and my dearest Sallu Bhai were the center of our topic of discussion besides in-side scoops about Gaurav’s fetish for holding hands and Saket’s extraordinary capability of changing his appearances in a jiffy. On a side note, looking at Gaurav’s attire last night gave another good reason to avoid watching Shahrukh Khan’s Don.

It is often said that ‘even a successful man without sense of humor is in-complete’ but thankfully Amit Varma had both. He again proved as to why he is rated as an A-list blogger, once he showcased his (borrowed)Bunny Ears. To top this up, he gave me the most heart-felt compliment ever -“You look like Sanjay Dutt”.

Another top-rated blogger, the UltraaaBrown (intended extra A’s) man though was the second last to arrive, still managed to make an impression – so much so that my kiddy cousins thought him to be quite a dude.

This time round Akshay was upgraded from milk-shakes to consuming beer and he still managed to capture our better profiles on his camera. IdeaSmith with her make-shift devilish horns would have surely won the crown as the ‘Blooper Queen’ of the night but was slightly edged by the sweet Ms. Bunny aka. Melody. She earned extra blooper points by showing her fondness towards Salman Khan and Mandira Bedi’s bustiers with cricket gyaan.

Others present were Divya, who was awfully quite as compared to last blog meet (or maybe her riding along with Gaurav was the reason), baby blogger Anand who got me a special gift all the way from Bangalore Bengaluru and last but not the least, one of the oldest blogger of the desidom, Peter Griffin.

All in all it was not only a blast of an evening between a bunch of bloggers but of actual people behind those virtual masks – atleast for me.

More on the evening can be found here, here, here and here.

This is it for now and me off to cleaning up the scarps from last night’s event. And yes! my lucky mascot Superman did come in handy.

Well we have some more bloggers singing my praises, ab hum kya bole, bhai – IdeaSmith, Peter, Saket and Divya.

[...] The third Bombay blog meetup of the year, at the beautiful Juhu house of host Sakshi Juneja, devolved, as so many Bombay parties do, into a discussion of the sex lives of cheating bastard nymphomaniacs Bollywood stars. Amit Varma of India Uncut was so relieved at not having to expound on libertarianism in the WSJ that he donned a pair of bunny ears. I assume the lingerie matched. [...]

so much so that my kiddy cousins thought him to be quite a dude.

Like Hanson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanson_%28band%29), I’m quite the hit on the 12-year-old circuit. Sigh. Beautiful evening, thanks for hosting!

“and my dearest Sallu Bhai were the center of our topic of discussion besides in-side scoops”

Ohh come on Sakshi, I am surprised. You ? Like Salman ? Or are you just kidding ?
I thought you would be the last person to be a fan of a regular GF-beater (somy ali, sangeeta bijlani, aishwarya rai and those phone calls, ohh come on you are supposed to be a feminist), wildlife killer, drunken driver who doesnt bother about killing people on the streets, talks just crap and invokes his “minority feelings are hurt” rant whenever arrested by the police for some wrongdoing. Didnt he come up with an excuse when arrested for blackbuck killing – “I am victimized cos I am muslim.” And after that you have muslims carrying placards and shouting slogans. Did he realize he could have caused a communal riot? Such irresponsible and thoughtless behaviour.

In short, A very good representation of a typical egoistic, airheaded Indian celebrity.

Sorry Sakshi, just my feelings about him. Maybe he is good to his friends etc as many swear by his friendship, but that doesnt minimize his flaws in any way.

Wish I were in Mumbai! Would have loved to attend such a bloggers’ meet! :-( Sadly, in this part of the country, very few people are aware of a “blog” :-)
