Jaan-E-Maan totally funtastic hai !

Do I like Jaan-E-Mann?

Do I like Jaan-E-Mann, I like Jaan-E-Mann….I love Jaan-E-Mann…Jaan-E-Mann is in my blood.

Okay, Okay..I agree, I seemed to have gone a wee-bit overboard with my appreciation for this film but guess what I don’t give a damn.

For the past few weeks, filmi keedas like me have been confused and gone thru sort-off cinema crisis with the whole Don vs. Jaan-E-Mann fever. Though both the films belong to completely different genres, it’s our desi-nature to derive whatever extra juice we can from whatever we can.

I had actually given up hope to go for either of the films because of lack of tickets available. Both the movies have been promoted so massively, it’s likely even your gully ka watchman has called in a sickie and taken a leave to watch them. But thankfully, Mata Lakshmi blessed me with a ticket in the form of my angel friend – who was nice enough to hunt around for back-door tickets. And so I got to watch Jaan-E-Mann, 6 to 9 evening show.

Now I won’t be repetitive in going about the film review, since I am sure most of you out there have already read thousands of the same floating around the virtual space. But I really can’t resist from writing a few words about the people behind this innovative effort.

So here it goes.

Shirish Kunder (Director, Writer & Editor) – In my opinion this guy is the actual Superstar of Jaan-E-Mann. Frankly speaking, when he got married to Farah Khan the first thing that came to my mind was that he did it ONLY for her reputation and her valuable contacts in the Hindi Film Industry. I mean Shirish could have taken the liberty of the fact that his wife’s good will could get him many projects with big banners even if his first film flops. But the hatke-attitude with which he has approached his directorial venture simply proves that he exactly knows what he wants – In short, his heart and mind both are in the right place. You become aware of his immense talent at the very start with Salman’s Film-Fare awards dream sequence. I am bloody hell so glad that finally we have producers who are giving such excellent talented individuals to shape-up our desi-filmy future.

Akshay Kumar (Apna 2nd Hero)WTF!! Is this guy hot or what. Be his geeky look or his NASA look or his cool dude look, you simply can’t resist him (and I talk for all the girlies and men who swing the other way). No, seriously Akshay seems to be looking sexier with his every next movie and it doesn’t even look as if he is trying hard to do so. On the acting front, he is totally awesome here. His innocence, sweetness and geekiness will simply bold you over. Even after you have left the cinema hall, even after you had your daily meals, even after you get ready for another day – you will not forget him or his goofy laugh.

Preity Zinta (Apni Beautiful Heroine) – Was she there in the film!! Really!! Oh ya she was. In my opinion, she was good and gave a decent performance. But I guess the other two main leads totally over-shadow her role, so much so that at times you actually forget that she exists in the film. However, giving her the credit where it’s due – she did give a 10/10 in the climax scenes, where many others could have easily gone off-hand. And Yes! She does look good.

And last but not the least…

Salman Khan (Apna No. 1 Hero) – The ones who know me well enough are aware of the fact that I love this guy, going back to the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam days. I may sound a bit partial towards him but Jann-E-Mann is out-an-out his film. For once his (always questioned) American accent has done him justice. Basically it’s like as if the writer wrote this part with only Salman Khan in his mind. His is just perfect with his emotions, dudeness and wackiness. You can’t help but totally love him. Watch out for the Elvis Salman, it will surely give you itch your funny-bone to the max.

All in all, an excellent film which totally stands out for its distinctiveness in all departments – be it acting, direction, narration, song visualization and costumes. In some-ways it is our version of Moulin Rouge.

As for rival Don, it seems to be Down Down Down and OUT.

I am going to watch Jaan-e-Mann tonight and really looking forward to it. SRK fans are trying to destroy it’s reputation on various blogs and also the bikay huay reviewers. I saw Don last night. It was a very flat movie. SRK was bad as Vijay compared to the great AB, but as Don he is better than KANK. I would again say he is miserable compared to AB; he doesn’t have the charisma or the personality. His dialogue delivery is becoming worse. Again nothing compared to the original Don.

Saw Don last night…dont think it deserves any stars. Farhan Akhtar disappoints me. i am not even going to bother to write a blogpost about Don.

Don sucks! Shahrukh is not a patch on Amitabh. His acting skills now entail screwing up his face into multiple contortions that’s it. He couldn’t seperate the cool Don character from the village bumpkin, Vijay. The Khaike dance was a total disappointment. SRK’s acting, looks and dancing leave much to be desired. He will make the money but his popularity will go downhill, especially after KANK and now Don. I wish I had gone to the other theatre and watched Jaan-e-Maan instead, atleast Preity Zinta would have been a saving grace.
Kareena looks pretty plump, my friend in UK called her, Hidamba!! Helen still rocks.
Priyanka looks hot but acting skills leave much to be desired.
Malaysia is pretty so definitely will consider it a vacation hot spot.
Some songs are hummable.
Don’t waste your time and money. If you really want to watch it, then wait for the DVD to come in a few months and there too just rent it, for this ain’t a collector’s item!

I thought Kareena looked the prettiest out of all the three girls in the newly released remake of Don. Priyanka Chopra somehow never looks that sensational to me and neither did Isha Koppikar. The only time I thought Priyanka looked and acted good was in Krrish. Buy anyway, Don is not a female-oriented film so it doesn’t really matter. Shahrukh looked Ok- not his best(Hate to say it). But, he was far more tolerable as Don than he was in Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. Coming back to the new Don, I quite liked the Title Song of Don which was remixed. My 20cents!

Cheers

= == = = = = = = =

Grrr… I hated him right from that film… grrr.. he broke a million mens hearts by hooking up with Aish.. :D

And worse, indulging in GF-abusing (he has a history of doing that, starting from Sangeeta bijlani to somy ali to Aish)… Plus his going around killing wildlife and running over people, fighting with Abhishek (whom I favour) (shown live on TV by those news channels), probably due to jealousy and Aishwarya. Plus his regular “secular” antics – like accusing government of targetting him cos he is muslim etc.. (LOLzz… now taking action against muslims for breaking the laws is not secular)…

Nice Jaan-E-Mann review.

I love this movie – it is so innovative and good humoured – it’s irresistable.

As for Salman’s alleged girlfriend bashing – one of his former girlfriends has denied it here
http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1028542&CatID=7

Makes you kind of wonder about the truth of all the other stories about him. But I don’t really care about his personal life. He’s great in this movie and that’s what counts. Go Salman!!!

Saw Jaan-E_Maan was a real real nice comedy. I was bowled over by Salman though I am not really a big fan of his!! He totally overshadowed Akki for once!!! (Aki is known to “steal” the show to fellow actors like sunil shetty, John Abraham in flilms whenever he is put opposite other top actors) but this time, Salman prevailed, wow what a man! he is in his 40′s and yet so so soooo unbelievably sexy. Well done Sallu, you rock!!! he he he :)
PS: Music is mlindblowing……..just too good!! CHEERS to the whole movie stars and team :)
