Gandhi-giri saves Sanjay Dutt (for now)
It seems like Gandhi-giri has managed to save actor Sanjay Dutt from landing-up behind bars, well atleast for the time being.
Dutt along with 25 other accused in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case appeared before the TADA court today. The actor is charged with possessing an AK-56 rifle and destroying it with the help of friends. He has already served 18 months in prison in connection with the charges against him.
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt appeared before a TADA court on Wednesday in response to summons issued to him.
The summons were issued by designated Judge P D Kode, who had asked Dutt and 25 other accused to appear before him for giving their attendance on Wednesday.
The court is giving the verdict in phases and has exempted accused on bail, including Dutt, from personal appearance. However, they are summoned to the court periodically.
The court has so far not declared when it would give the verdict on the alleged complicity of Sanjay and a group of his friends who helped him in destroying the weapon.

Isnt it ironic - A man who possessed an AK-56 illegally, and was possibly helping the terrorists hide their weapons at his home, is a lead actor in a movie that celebrates gandhigiri.
Or on second thoughts, it is not ironic at all. In fact, it fits like a glove. Wasnt gandhi the one who was responsible for deaths of lakhs of Indians during partition and at one point, got refugees in Delhi kicked out of unused mosques, in the cold Delhi rain, so that “minority feelings are not hurt”.
A recent report in Times said that gandhi was not given the nobel peace prize, because he does not qualify as a peaceful man. Rightfully so.

Addendum to my previous post -
I somehow feel, yasser arafat was actually more deserving of the nobel peace prize than gandhi. Though he was a terrorist, he did attempt to work on peace, unlike gandhi

Just thinking about it, I don’t know what is the use of punishing someone (and this is not for Sanjay Dutt alone) 15 years after the actual deed is done, unless the person continues criminal activities… and in this case, he has already spent 18 months in jail…
