If Saleem and Anarkali Blogged…

I have been tagged (yet again).

But this time it comes with a difference. Firstly it has nothing to do with personal photographs, personal dislikes-likes or those limited words posts. Secondly, it’s all about blending two of my favorites – Blogging & Films.

Maria (Filmiholic) has asked me this intriguing question?

Which movie characters should have had blogs and in what ways would their blogs have changed the movie plots? (Started off by this tag-a-holic).

After giving it some thought and expending a considerable amount of brain energy, I have arrived at the old Bollywood classic – Mughal-e-Azam.

Mughal-e-Azam was released in 1960, directed by Late K. Asif and starring Prithviraj Kapoor (Badshah Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar), Dilip Kumar (Shehzada Nooruddin Mohammad Saleem) and Madhubala as Anarkali.

Based on a true love story of Prince Salim and court dancer Anarkali. Difference in their social status caused a rift between Prince Saleem and his father King Akbar, who could not except a court dancer as his daughter-in-law and the future queen of Hindustan. For detailed information, kindly proceed here.

Anyways getting back to answering the tag question, if Saleem and Anarkali had blogs then surely there would have been significant changes in their real and reel lives.

For Instance –

For Instance, one can only imagine the amount of cash and personal jewelry Prince Saleem would have saved, if he could have used blog posts to narrate his feelings to the beautiful Anarkali rather than sending messages through Suraiya and others and having to pay them to do so.

Through their blogs, Saleem and Anarkali could have touched the hearts of thousands of (hopefully) sensitive educated people, who would later start an online “In the Name of Love” campaign and put immense pressure on King Akbar not to go ahead with the war. We bloggers are known for immense dedication and sincerity towards various blog crusades against the wrongs of society.

The level of quality love poetry in the blogosphere would have undoubtly skyrocketed. Anarkali’s dramatic song “Jab Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya” would have turned out to be a blog post that would have been linked by the most number of blogs.

Anarkali could have had the option of meeting many, presumably, eligible bachelors other than Saleem via her blog and if she had selected one of them, then history would have had a different story to tell. On the other hand her blog would have been a prime target of the SIFish family.

Through blogs, their love story would have gained more global popularity just like their friends Romeo and Juliet. India could have topped the chart of most favorite couples from yester years, rather than than topping the charts for corruption.

So there you have it, the above and many more curiosities of how lives of Prince Saleem and Anarkali would have changed, if only they were presented with the brighter prospects that the world blogging offers us today.

Lastly, I place the tag responsibility on Shadows, Granger Gab, Njus, Sunny and Harsh.

HAHAHA! Loved it! I’m visiting Filmiholic’s other tagged bloggers to figure out what they’ve written. I hadn’t thought of taking Mughal-e-Azam, so yeah, a brilliant post.

PS I’d have SO linked to Jab Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya!

Peace,

LOL! The online “In the Name of Love” campaign!

Also, next time I want to tag you, but don’t, because I’m worried that I’m tagging you too often (you’re already calling me tag-a-holic), I’ll just tag Maria! :D

Brava, Sakshi, well done!

Oh, and to infamous Don Juan in Bombay (if you were Parsi, we could call you Porus Hilton), like tagging me will keep Sakshi out of it. Who’s to say I won’t tag her again too? :-)

Buddhaji – Glad to know you liked it.

Gaurav – Don’t worry re…won’t thrash you as much if tageed. :)

Filmiholic – Way to go girl !! ;)

Desh – Well yaar whats life without a little bit of fiction init. :)

Plus if we had blogs then we would surely have YouTube, the feather moving scene could have be put up there. Akbar doesn’t need to be tech-savy, he is the KING…his mantries would be doing so for him. As for Durjan Singh…he could be so famous among the boys with his agressive but inspiring PodCasts. What say?

Akbar could definitely help himself with 2-3 nice looking secretaries ;)
Saleem Miyan’s shayari wud have fteched many more anarkali’s though…
As far is poor anarkali is concerned Akbar could have deleted her blogspot account rather than putting up her behind bricks…wht say???

Desh – I agree, Saleem thru is blog could have been India’s very first “Metrosexual” male. His sexy looks, sensitivity…and passion for love would have surely won him loads of female fans. :)

If Anarkali’s blog would have been blocked out…then the Indian Bloggers Assocation would have come to her rescue.

Good one!!

“Anarkali could have had the option of meeting many, presumably, eligible bachelors other than Saleem via her blog and if she had selected one of them, then history would have had a different story to tell.”

That’s for sure!! :)
