Hello London City

As they say, “All good things come to an end” and so my most awaited holidays in US of America have finally come to an end. On the other hand things aren’t that bad since I still have two weeks of my vacations left. So yeah! I am still hovering over the happy place at a mental level.

Thursday night caught a British Airways flight from NYC to London. After a little mix up over my flight dates and an extra fee of $120, I was off to catch my plane just about in time. Security checking was not all that bad, I mean after you have traveled across US you would feel that crossing International borders was a fairly an easy task as compared to traveling domestically. For crying out loud, I went thru far more severe and time delaying security boots on my sightseeing trip to the Statue of Liberty.

Anyways my heart did skip a beat when I saw NYC from an aerial view for the last time (at least for now) but as we have been told that everyday is a new day, so in a way I am kind-da looking forward to my 14 days in Europe.

Flight was fairly comfortable after sucking down 2 bottles of wine with a delicious Thai Chicken and Rice meal and Tiramisu for desert. I usually don’t sleep well on flight so instead I decided to watch in-flight movies, which weren’t that bad.

Touched London around 7.15 am but by time we got out of the plane it was nearly 7.30. We were put in a bus and were sent off to Terminal 4, just the way we have domestic flights system in India. It was sort off odd since I was on an International flight. Anyways after walking for further 10 minutes, reached the immigration check point with a bloody long queue already present. 20 more minutes there and then stepped out to be greeted by a Pakistani cabbie driver Mr. Malik (who was arranged by my friend’s cousin) to be taken to West Woodford. I really helpful guy, gave us loads on tips on how to get our way around in the city and mostly he would be taking us to Waterloo station from where I catch the Eurostar train for Paris. Finally we got to their place around 11ish.

Yesterday, I and my friend basically spent the whole day lazing at her cousin’s house. Playing with his two adorable daughters and a fatty black cat named Pixel. I slept for four hours flat in the afternoon. We spent the whole evening talking about India, Parsis and some small chats on our fading culture and traditions. The dinner part was even more interesting since I had Dhansak (Parsi dish) with rice prepared by a wonderful German Lady (cousin’s wife). We or at least I passed out around 1.00 am after more glasses of wine and vodka.

Woke up just couple of minutes back and will be heading to the city for some sight-seeing, obviously after a shower and brushing my teeth.

Anyways here is my planner for the coming two weeks an would be great to meet some of you guys living in-and-around the area.

10th-13th : Paris

13th-17th : Nice & Riviera Coast

17th-22nd : London

I shall be posting my West Coast and Niagara Falls travel snaps in the coming days and shall be putting up posts whenever time permits.

Chalo, me off now.

Pixel.. hmm.. Is he a computer engineer?

Germans cooking Parsi Dishes… while I never heard of dhansak, here in India. And Parsis themselves are forgetting it. Whats the world coming to. I suppose, you will find more books on yoga, tantric sex, etc in European bookstores, than in India.
