Goodbye Mr. Crocodile Hunter

I still can’t believe that he is no more – yes! I am talking about one of the greatest and most passionate environmentalist of our time, Steve Irwin. For some he was just a crazy daredevil who got thrills from putting his dearest life in danger but for many like myself who are enthusiastic about wildlife, his death is most definitely a big loss.

During my stay in Sydney, I remember watching his shows on local TV channels and also watching his movie on the big screen with my little cousins. No matter what mood one would be in, his pumped up energy and excitement while interacting with animals of different shapes, sizes and categories would have an infectious effect on you.

The entire drive back from Niagara Falls to NYC, I just was not able to shrug off the sad feeling from within. Frankly, till today I actually never realized that I really liked the guy so much. I mean there are very few people in this world who actually get to do what they love the most till the very end and Steve was just one of those lucky few. A man, who tussled with most dangerous and mightiest of creatures, lost his life while doing a simplest act of watching a Stingray.

He leaves behind, his wife and two very young kids along with countless of animals and friends at his Australia Zoo in Queensland.

Hope his soul rests in peace and his un-conditional love for wildlife & environment carries on thru his charities and numerous documented moments.

Yes Sakshi, I hear you. What an untimely death of such a passionate person who contributed his entire life to the Wildlfie and the well being of all animals on our planet. At first, I had very different impressions of the man when I used to sometimes see him on TV at a quick glance but then I got addicted to his Shows on the Animal Planet and then I saw this very down to earth man enjoying doing what he did best- being with the animals. And then bang the news of his shocking demise that I first read on Ninemsn first and then across all media. May god give strength to his loved ones and may his soul rest in peace.

Really sad. When I read that, I thought,, now that was one great guy, and would definitely miss him. Strangely enough, he devoted his life to working on wildlife and thats what took his life. When he got too close to crocs, snakes and sharks, i used to think – “arre mere bhai, get away from that”. Or for that matter, any other guy on TV who pulled snakes by their tail, i used to think – “kya majaak kar raha hai, dimag kharab hai kya, saap asli hai, rubber ka nahi”.

The animal planet guys actually showed a guy who was going after the top ten poisonous snakes in the world. He was actually bitten by one(the fang just scratched the back of his hand). He spent an hour in hospital, came back to the same spot, and found the same snake there…. and immediately got back to trying to capture it.

Crikey!!!
