Hi Tech Women

There is a famous saying and a song, “Diamonds are a Girl’s best friend” and I agree with it full heartedly but the results of a survey commissioned by US cable television’s Oxygen Network, proves that women have found a new best friend.

The Girls Gone Wired survey of 1400 women and 700 men aged 15 to 49, which was conducted by market researcher TRU, found that given the choice; women would opt for tech items rather than luxury items like jewellery or holidays.

The study found 77 per cent of women surveyed would prefer a new plasma television to a diamond solitaire necklace and 56 per cent would opt for a new plasma TV over a weekend in Florida.

Even shoes lost out. The study found 86 per cent would prefer a new digital video camera to a pair of designer shoes.

And there is more,

The study found over the next five years women see themselves increasing their activities in six tech areas: digital cameras, mobile phones, email, camera phones, text messaging and instant messaging.

I don’t know about others but who would in their right senses give up a “diamond solitaire necklace” and this applies for guys too.

Amit has more on this, here.

I can beep – Bikini with built in UV Meter

On the other hand, here is a Breaking Invention, which sounds very interesting and promising.

In order to protect oneself from skin cancer but also enjoy the pleasure of wearing scanty clothes, Canadian company Solestrom has come up with a new bikini that goes on sale next month with a UV meter built into its belt and an alarm that beeps to tell wearers when to head to the shade.

Garassa said the meter on the $US190 bikini displays a level of UV intensity on a scale from 0 to 20. A person’s sensitivity to UV depends mainly on skin type, but generally three to five would be considered moderate strength, 8-10 very high and anything above 11 extreme.

Garassa said the company was already seeing high demand from Australia and South Africa, which have the world’s highest skin cancer rates. The United States has about 1 million new skin cancer cases each year.

So all the men out there thinking off hooking up Rakhi Sawant, Malika Sherawat or Celina Jaitley, better start saving up for this present.

Get the latest Nokia handset as a gift for someone you love. Or a loaded laptop. Girls calling you home to fix their laptop :P . Or to remove that dreaded virus on the disk. :D I like this, yeah. Hey Sakshi, I am not a SIFian. :D LOLzzz.. But then I am not a seculo-liberal progressive either. Buddha, the Enlightened One, said – “Follow the middle path” and thats what I do. :)

Or maybe, you are referring to the kind of queries that lead to this blog. Yep, many of them come from techies, I admit.

By the way, a friend of mine has a silver Sony Vaio, and it sure is an amazing piece of work. So light that I could lift it with a thumb and finger. And she uses it to play games, watch movies and play music. And sometimes, for the purpose she told her dad she would be using it for – programming and studying.

Shadows – Wow…must say your friend is very lucky. My brother just bought a Sony Vio..same silver one and it’s a beauty. And all he does with it is work on Microsoft Office, such a waste I tell you.

Sometimes I wonder could there be anything more beautiful then a sexy Sony Vio…but then I see my glimmering diamond bracelet…and I know the answer. :)
