She Got Dooced

Are you blogging instead of working on your assigned duty at office? If yes, then you better read this story.

A 33 year old British woman who has been living for past 8 years or so in Paris and blogs under the name ‘La Petite Anglaise’ got fired from her job by her boss for blogging.

Yes…Yes this is true.

And No, this has nothing to do with her posting nasty stuff about her boss. As a matter of fact, she never even revealed the name of the company she was working for. She basically wrote about her love affairs, single motherhood and office bloopers with self-deprecating, Bridget Jones-style humor.

This is what she has written as her introduction on her blog.

Paris has been my home for a decade.

After living ‘in sin’ for 8 years, I left my partner for a man I met on my blog. I now live alone with my daughter Tadpole; her daddy, Mr Frog, lives nearby.

Just when I thought things were back on an even keel, I got dooced.

Welcome to my life…

For those who are not aware, Dooced is a term used for indicating the dismissal from work for blogging.

Anyways there is a limey twist to the story.

Apparently now she’s suing her employer in a case generating buzz in the entire European and American blogosphere.

The lawsuit is seen as a test case in France, where there have been few cases of bloggers getting fired.

Now if only she wins, just imagine so many of us would be able to blog peacefully without worrying about loosing our jobs.

One to watch I think. As a company owner myself I can see no reason why the extra-work (outside work) activities of an worker have anything to do with the company. Getting your story with all the details left in published in the readers digest or womans own mag does not get one fired.

BTW your site keeps trying to open pop-ups… quite annoying.

When people I know blog under pseudonyms, I wonder why. Is this why they do it? It’s a scary thought, isn’t it?

Well, I was warned by my immediate senior. He was ok with my blogging, but he told me to not spend much time on it. Fine enough actually. So no long posts for me, just quickies.

Ha ha…Petite Anglaise is the first ever blogger who I read! :) She writes an open diary, so unless you are interested in prying into her life (which may or may not be fabricated) but she is a good spinner!
