So finally after 10 days of hard-core search and dancing around across borders our ATS department seems to have got a break-through in the Mumbai Train Blasts probe.
Time Now TV reports:
The first arrest was made by ATS in Navi Mumbai this morning.
The suspect Mumtaz is believed to have provided logistical support to the militants who carried out the attack.
Two other arrests in connection with the blasts had been made by the Intelligence Bureau in Madhubani, Bihar on Wednesday (July 19). The two arrested were Mohammed Kalam and Mohd Kadir.
Kalam is believed to have gone to Pakistan via the Nepal border for training. He had been earlier once arrested in Delhi while Mohd Kadir is believed to be a cousin of Mohd Kalam.
All the three arrested will be presented in the Mazgaon court in Mumbai later today.
Now these arrests have come after days of speculation, threats and hoaxes, coupled with suggestions from Indian agencies that the bombings were in all probability carried out by Kashmiri separatist group Lashkar-e-Taiba with funding and political support from Pakistan.
Even though all fingers point at LeT (looking at their previous tactics) and it’s good to read that the ATS and Mumbai Police have managed to make some significant progress with today’s arrests but I still can’t help but wonder whether these men are actually the ones involved in the Mumbai blasts conspiracy or is it just another move by the officials to show us and the world that they are on the right track or are these arrests simply made out of frustration.
I mean if you look at previous events, for instance – It took forever for the Police officials and the forensic department to conclude the kinds of explosives were used to blow up the Mumbai trains, then they were tossing up ideas that the suspects were from Nepal, then Bangladesh, then Pakistan and at one point Dubai, hundreds were detained and interrogated but nothing crucial came out of it too. Plus not to forget that till date no one has been convicted in the 1993 bomb blasts incident that had ripped Mumbai apart (which puts a big question mark on their working efficiency) and the recent screwed up act of Banning of Blogs/Websites by DoT.
All these above factors added with Public and constant Media butting surely don’t make work less dramatic for the government, police and other involved departments.
And no matter how hard I try to comfort myself after hearing Mr. K.P. Raghuvanshi (the leader of the bombing investigation) boasting that the officials have definite evidence that these arrested people are linked to terrorist activities and they have connections with groups in Nepal and Bangladesh, which are directly or indirectly connected to Pakistan, I am still pushed to think otherwise.
However I sincerely hope that my doubts are proved wrong and for once just once we are able to punish the ones who are responsible of wasting away hundreds of innocent lives and bring some sort of a relief to the ones are left effected.
