Mumbai Bleeds Once Again

7 Blasts in Western Railway Trains Rock Mumbai City |
Most of you must have already heard about the serial bomb blasts that rocked Mumbai city today evening.
I had just reached my travel agent’s office when I was informed about it. Landlines were down and so were the cell phone networks. While on my way back home, the news on all the radio stations was different from one another. But could have never imagined the whole situation to be disastrous to such an extent.
As per Star News -
Mumbai’s heart line, the Western Railway Line had been blown apart by 7 strong blasts across different trains. The first blast occurred in a first-class compartment of a local train near Khar station at 6.25 p.m. Followed by blasts at Mahim, Matunga, Jogeshwari, Borivili, Bhayendar and Mira Road.
The railway police, however, have said there were four blasts on along the Western Railway, while the state police said there were five blasts.
The bombs were targeted at the Rush hour chaos which is usually the scene at every Mumbai station, practically every day of the week. All the bombs were placed in the men’s first class compartments.
The blast blew the train compartment to pieces and several passengers were seen jumping out. The injured have been taken to the nearby hospitals and there have 25 confirmed deaths so far.
The Police were doing their best to move away passengers, who are still in daze and shock of what they had witnessed in front of them.
This un-doubtly has been one of the most cowardly acts by those scrupulous bastards, who don’t even deserve a place among the dead. The depth of today’s catastrophe will only be a bit clear as hours pass by.
My city will surely re-cover but this bruise will stay with us forever.
God Bless and Be Strong.

[…] More details are on various local blogs. There’s been the inevitable traffic chaos (Mumbai has one of the busiest railway systems in the world) and unsurprising responses from Pakistan’s government and India’s opposition party, but it is slightly worrying that the Indian PM has announced he’ll “take all possible measures to … defeat the forces of terrorism”. Little more than a rapid populist reaction, sure, but do I sense shades of the G.W. Bush school of anti-terrorism? […]

[…] As per latest news, the death toll from yesterday’s blasts in Mumbai has risen to 190 and more 600 people have been injured. I have been practically glued to the phone and television since last nights. Relatives and friends from all over calling/messaging, wanting to know that their loved ones are safe and sound. […]

Well one person known to my family has been a victim here. The Jogeshwari train bomb was apparently under his seat. His family still doesn’t know. My sister-in-laws father along with few others have gone to break the news to them.
Its fucking bloody depressing. The msges are constantly flashing on Television…families looking for their loved ones, kids searching for their parents.
Can’t write…I am out of here.

Shocking News! News just came in this morning about the blasts in the National Nine News here in Sydney. Can’t even imagine how chaotic it must be for all the locals in Bombay. We’ve managed to get in contact with our relatives and they’ve told us just how frantic everyone was/is!My sympathies go out to all those victims and the relatives of the dead and to those who were lucky to have survived!I am just in a state of shock and despair..May God Bless.

How naive. Does anyone realize that the people who blast trains and the ones who indulge in communal riots are the same.

By the way, the reason why Mumbai figures on the hitlist of islamic terrorists is not just the number of non-believers whom they can kill, It is the fact that Mumbai is the financial capital of the country. They want to terrorise the industries and businesses too.
Ironically, when I saw the link on rediff, a few links below, I saw - India grants some xyz amount to Pakistan as earthquake relief.
So ironic. I felt like laughing but wasnt able to. Sonia and Madmohan, What about spending that amount on calamity relief in India, instead of such cheap tactics to prove yourself secular. I suppose, the earthquake in paakkistan took place last year. Do they still need relief ??
Manish from Ultrabrown blog also asks why the Western line was targeted.
Also , the media is filled with stories about how Minorities in India are oppressed and that they fear attacks in the aftermath of the blasts. Haahhh.. there is no justice.
