Well for all those who know me (well enough), are very much aware of the fact that I am quite fanatical about horror movies. It is simply my most favorite genre of Holly/Bollywood films.
Though I am not very pleased with the whole ‘new-improved’ look been given to some old classic hits buy new set of producers/directors – there is just this one movie I can’t wait to watch.
The Omen (released in 1976) will definitely be on the list of ‘Greatest horror movie of all time’, of every horror movie-buff. It is certainly one of those movies where everything was just ‘perfect’ – be it the direction of Richard Donner, its background score, fantastic performance by Gregory Peck and Harvey Stephens (young Damien), etc.
The re-hashed version of the original master-piece is releasing on 06/06/06 (ahh…could there be a perfect date!!), titled as, “Omen -666†produced by 20th Century Fox.
Hopefully this movie won’t turn out to be wasted attempt, since most of the re-vamped versions have been off lately. The promos off the movie are interesting and very gripping indeed. Obviously the technology used is giving the movie an appealing invite for its viewers.
So having my fingers crossed, I wait for the arrival of this movie in my city – also praying that it wouldn’t be a cause of concern for some religion extremists.
Even if it matches 50% of the fantastic horror sense of the original, I would consider my money well spent. Or else, I am goona be pissed-off.
In the mean time, check out one of its trailors and enjoy the temporary thrill.
*Warning – It aint for the faint hearted.
