Pandooji dearest…

After taking a wrong u-turn at a singal junction in Mahim, a traffic cop also known as ‘pandoo’ in Mumbai, knocked on my car window.

Pandooji : “Yaahan per u-turn leena mana hai”.

Me (shocked expression ) : “Mujhe pata nahi tha sir, galti ho gaya”.

Pandooji (stern look) : “License nikalo”.

Me (pleading eyes) : “Meri aage wali car ne bhi u-turn liya tha, toh muhjhe laga ki turn tel sakthe hai”.

Pandooji (a little grin) : “Koi car nahi tha. License nikalo. License hai an, ki ghar par hai”.

Me (a bit irritated now) : “License dhikaya toh fine maaf”.

Pandooji (smiling) : “Thek hai”.

Me (smiling) : “Promise”.

Pandooji nods his head. I remove my license from the dashboard and hand it over to him. He looks at it.

Pandooji (stern look again) : “Sau rupiya bhar ke, license chowky se le le na.

Me (upset and irritated) : “Boss jaane doh na.Galti ho gaya. Waise bhi traffic se dimak kharab ho gaya hai”.

Pandooji: “Nahi, fine bharna ho ga”.

Me (fedup totally) : “Okay. Receipt deh do”.

All of a sudden, Pandu has a change of heart and hands the license back to me.

Pandooji (smiling again) : “Next time mistake mat karna, Okay !.”

Me (shocked) : “Thank you sir”.

And we both drive off (seperately ofcourse) towards our respective destinations.

I have to say that girly smiles has done the trick for you. No saviour for men in such a case. One Pandu once stopped while I was happily driving in the W. E. highway. The point was I was changing lanes too often. I mean “Man, sab log usse mein nazar aaya kya?” Not only he wanted license, he wanted car papers, insurance, everything. Was nailing every little bit to get that devoted Rs. 50. Ufff! its really sad !!!
