Hit and Run

Its a pity….Mankind against mankind…..What is the world coming down to??

I guess after the Jessica Lal case, everybody feels that they can get away with murder.

At least thats what I experienced whiles driving on a very busy suburban road, on my way to work the other day. A goods truck speeds past my car, overtaking from the right….straight hitting on a biker, which lead him flying off his bike onto the road, and to my astonishment the truck doesnt even bother to stop and look back!! A murder in bright day light….in front of a million other cars and mind you traffic inspectors too.

Of course the biker is helped by pedestrian passer-bys, kind enough to give the poor chap their helping hand. But doesnt any humanity live within the trucker..? Doesnt he feel any remorse towards the person he has just hit..? Doesnt he want to at least look back and see if the person hit by him, is dead or alive..? Leave alone helping the biker!

I immediately sped behind the truck, overtook him and jammed my brakes once my car was right in front of his truck. Luckily I stopped him at the signal junction near-by the accident spot and the signal had just turned red.

Rest is what happens in our bollywood movies, the traffic cops and crowd emerges after the whole saga is over. The trucker is taken to the police station and but obviously I wasted over half my working day giving statements and being a witness in the case.

Accidents must be happening day-in and day-out, especially in a crowded city like Mumbai but very few accused have the courage to come forward and do something about it. Agreed, at times the drivers are not at fault, still it is their responsibilty to help the other person.

Tommorrow if you see someone getting away with murder…don’t just sit there on your ass, do something about it.

I couldnt agree more with you. Usually we always have this “let it be” attitude and turn a blind eye to the surrounding malaise.

U did the right thing in chasing this asshole.

Hey, thats a great job you did! Kudos to you…u r absolutely right tht many ppl would prefer not to interfere in such matters…and its this attitude which further encourages the evil-doers.

Really commendable that you did this, but what happened to the biker ? Did anyone rush him to the hospital ?

V – The biker was thankfully not hurt seriously. Just a bit bruises here and there. However it was totally shocking to see the truck driver trying to flee…even when many of the bystanders where yelling out to him to stop.

Says a lot about you! Does require guts and courage to do something like this.

Keep it up!

Hello, good that the trucker did not bang into your car. You could probably just have told the police the number of his truck. Anyway, Good work. :)
