There are very…very few Hindi songs (these days) that make their presence felt. However, on hearing a particular song from just released music album and very soon to be released movie ‘Kalyug’, I knew that this song will stay here for good..even if the movie fails to make an impression.
The song is titled ‘Aadat’ sung by Atif, music & lyrics by Goher Mumtaz (both are a part of Pakistani rock band ‘Jal’). After ages, I actually went to my local audio store and purchased a music album…just for ‘one’ song.
Here are the lyrics….
najane kab se ….umeedein kuch baki hain
mujhe phir bhi teri yaad kiun aati hai
najane kab seEeEeYduur jitna bhi tu mujhsee
pass terey meinnn..
ab to adat si hai mujhkoooo
aise jiney meinzindagi se koii… shikhvaa hi naii haii
ab to zindaa hoon.. main iss neeley…. asmaan meinn…
chahat aisi haii yeh terii….
barhti jayeee……
ahat aisi hai yeh terii…..
mujhe ko stayee……..yadein gehri hain… itnii…
dil doob jayee….
aur ankhon mein yeh ghuum…..
num bun jayeee……
hehehay….oo…..hooo….
ab to adat sii… haii mujhkooo aise jeeneyy meinnn
hehe….. hoho…..sabhii rateein haiinn….
sabhi baatein haiiiinnn…..
bhula doo unheiinn………..
mita doo unheiinnnnnn…..ab to adat si hai mujhkooo….
The song is dark and filled with un-finished desires. This song made an impression on me…maybe because it reminded me of two individuals in my life who were so meant to be ‘together’ but could not be.
I guess it’s not so surprising that most successful love songs are the ‘sad’ ones for the simple fact that mostly everyone can relate them to some part or incident in their life.
